Vice President of Government and Industry Relations at Winnebago Industries and RVWA Charitable Foundation Board Member
I am fortunate to have found the RV Industry as a career path early on. Having grown up in a small town in the Midwest, I had limited travel opportunities, but extensive camping and outdoor experiences prior to heading off to college. My university experience opened my eyes to the wider world and a realization that there were experiences and opportunities way beyond the bubble of my youth. With that insight, after graduation I walked into a tight job market but found a production position opportunity at Winnebago Industries. I still remember the excitement of my first day on the job and had every intention of staying just a few months until I found something “better”. I immediately bought into the company culture and the products and experiences we were delivering, and I actually found the “better” that I sought with opportunities inside the company.
These roles in production, service, marketing, communications and now, government relations have been tremendous opportunities to grow and widen my skills while providing value to the organization. From the very beginning, I benefitted from team members and fellow RV industry professionals who mentored, assisted, and influenced me of which I greatly appreciate the growth those relationships have provided.
Although I love my career, the true blessings in my life revolve around family with my wife Kristine and our five children and grandchildren. As they grew, we were able to share our love of RVing and outdoor activities. Watching them grow and succeed is the highlight of my life. We have all experienced challenges with some having larger hurdles to overcome than others, but I firmly believe that everyone deserves the chance to grow and prosper. I see the RV industry and the larger Outdoor Recreation Community as an incredible space that can provide work, travel, and inspirational opportunities to everyone. I see RVWA as a key element in continuing to move us forward to that reality and I am excited to be a part of it.
