The RV Technical Institute (RVTI) and RV Women’s Alliance (RVWA) announced the schedule for their 2024 all-women’s class series, following the success of last year’s program, according to a News & Updates report of RVTI. The upcoming classes include three Level 1 courses and a hybrid Level 2 course, combining online and in-person learning.
“These all-female classes and our partnership with the RV Technical Institute over the past two years have been integral to elevating the role of women in the RV technician field,” Denise Chariya, RVWA chair and THOR Industries marketing director, said.
The Level 1 course, spanning a week, covers the seven critical RV systems: propane, electrical, plumbing, appliances, body, generator, and chassis. Successful completion of this course qualifies participants to conduct RV pre-delivery inspections. The Level 2 course, on the other hand, delves deeper, equipping students with the skills necessary for diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs of these systems.
“This year, we are excited to be offering Level 2 training that will give these women the skills they need to take their careers to the next level,” Chariya added.
The gender gap in the RV service technician profession remains significant, with women constituting only 2% of the workforce. However, there’s a notable interest from women in the sector, with over 30% of inquiries for the RV Technical Institute’s courses coming from female candidates, indicating an opportunity for growth in female participation.
“We’re looking forward to working with the RV Women’s Alliance again this year to conduct these classes. We’ve already been receiving interest in this year’s classes, and we’re excited to be a part of these students’ journeys along the RV technician career path, whether that’s introducing them to this information for the first time or helping them further develop their skills,” said Halle Edmister, an account specialist for the RVTI and RVWA member.
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply and take advantage of this unique opportunity to advance their technical skills in the RV industry. For more information about attending a class, click here.
